Third match down of the first four match series to round one finals. We beat Mackenzie 3-0. I was impressed with their enthusiasm and vigor… Of course they have a good coach to motivate them. I think the match was a challenging as expected.

Tomorrow we will have a tougher match against Minus who also beat Pineiros 3-1. Then my husband and I will be traveling to the United States to be with our family there over the Christmas Holiday. Our time will be very short, only three days in total. Can you believe it! We will leave Sao Paulo on the night of Dec. 22… arrive on 23rd and already leave late afternoon the day after Christmas. But it will be worth it being at home with the family.

Until the next update,

GO FINASA!
Blessings and Happy Holiday!

Update time,

Well, it has been a nice weekend. First and far most beating Pineiros 3-1. It would have been better to win 3-0 as Rexona in the other pool lost a set to an opponent. This is important as I explained in one of the other blogs that there are four mini finals. Each final within these series will be played at the home of the team with the best record. So sets really matter. Unlike World Cup, sets ratio count first, then points in the event that the sets are the same.

After the match I went to a dinner with my husband to celebrate his team having won the championship and the presentation of individual awards. It was a nice event. Turned out many of the Pineiros players were invited to be present too.

Today, I slept in then went to the birthday celebration of one of my teammates, Adenizia now 21. Everyone seemed to have enjoyed themselves, dancing, laying out by the pool…. The drive there had a very nice view of the rich green tree covered hills and mountains. A relaxing place to escape away from the city. But of course on the return we ran into TRAFFIC!

Now I am home. Soon I will continue with watching the first season of Heroes.

That’s it for now,
blessings,

Danielle

Okay… 3-0 for our opening match. Boy what a long return home. I think we had head wind or something. We left right after the match, dined at the airport and arrived 3:30 in the morning. We have all of Tuesday off. I took advantage of sleeping in.

The match was fine. Recife’s number 6 did a really good job against up. Marcella won player of the game. I was set a quick set in front of the setter woohoo! I got a kill so maybe the setters will began to have more confidence setting me. Because I am in the front row with the setter twice usually they run me behind on slides. The one rotation I am up with three hitter, I am more of a decoy. I was so excited to get that quick set. With time I am sure the setters will be a bit more comfortable setting me in front. But actually my team is loaded with hitters, I don’t anticipate getting set much more.

Well, I am off to visit my in-laws.

Have a blessed day,

Danielle

Hello,

Well, we are getting ready to travel up north to Recife for our first Superliga match. I experience carnival there once many years ago. Wow, super crowded. And lots of ants! Large ones! Anyway, I am looking forward to going there. Although, it will be really hot. Yep, like being back in Baton Rouge, but hotter. Annnnddddd, I hope to see Josenildo, he was the coach who first contracted me to play at BCN and who switched the libero in and out for the left, or opposite. Yes, I played all round even with the libero.

Training is going well. I am blessed and healthy and eager to start the league. The format is a bit different from in the years past. There are four mini tournaments, including a finals for each. Then there will be a best of three quarter finals and semi finals. And finally only ONE match for the finals of the league.

This year Global will televise the Superliga. There is always a lot of media coverage here in Brazil. Last Monday I did a live program ONE HOUR, all Portugese, just me and the host, YIKES! I was told it went smoothly. There were a lot of emails sent in to the show that night. The time actually went by quickly. The program covered all volleyball topics from World Cup, to beach, to leagues in Brazil and abroad. They actually keep track of Brazilian players playing abroad and broadcast the matches.

That’s it for now.

GO FINASA

We are the champions my friend! Paulist Champions 2007 FINASA OSASCO! Well, this was the ninth Paulist title for Finasa. What a great moment and feeling to be apart of it. Though my role was relatively small in that I only participated in the final three matches, it still was an amazing feeling to win the gold trophy and medal. I LOVE GOLD! The was the second match up consecutively Finasa Vs Sao Caetano. My compliments to Sao Caetano as there program is continuing to grow and is always a team that is well organized and competitive until the end.

Our fans were great. The girls did somewhat of a pile on the floor in celebrating our win. Then after receiving the trophy and medals we took a victory lap around the gym. As I congratulated our president and our coaches, one said, “This is the first of many to come.” Wow, I got chills. But quickly came back to the moment. Let me enjoy this championship first. At least until Tuesday when we will resume practice.

Go Finasa, Thanks for everyone’s support!
