What’s happening to Chieri Volley? I’ll tell you and hopefully set your mind at ease a bit. With yesterdays loss, we have grabbed yet another experience to take with us into the playoffs. I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. Two things are happening right now (at least these are the two I will comment). One of which I agree with my coach when he said, “That we are training well and the results will come with just a few adjustments we have to make.” And two, we are definitely going to be the underdogs going into the playoffs. Which will make it that much sweeter when the victory comes. I am sure like some of our wavering fans, the other teams may be counting us out. But it is not over until it is over. We were given today off to reflect, recover, and regroup because tomorrow we will continue training hard and well and preparing for the challenges and matches to come.

Only two days until our second to last regular season match against Padova. We will play there. We’ve been training hard as we prepare for the next two matches, then let the playoff begin.

In the meantime because Bergamo had the European Cup Championship in which to compete, we play on Wednesday. This left us without league competition for the weekend. Woohoo. I was looking to have at least a two day break, go to church on Sunday… Not really, instead we trained twice on Saturday (usually we train once) and once on Sunday. However my coach was gracious enough to push practice up a bit. Unfortunately it wasn’t enough to give me time to change after service. So guess what? I went to church in my practice uniform. I took to “come as you are” and still I had to leave right after hearing the sermon. Upon arriving at the gym, I was in such a hurry that I grabbed my bags and took off running leaving my car door open throughout the entire practice!

We were, however, given Sunday evening off, Monday all day and Tuesday morning. I took the opportunity to have an adventure driving to Imola to visit an old friend from college. And an adventure it was. It took me five hours to arrive when it should have taken only three hours! My navigator sucked! Excuse my language. Constantly reworking the journey. Finally, on the right track, my friends met me at McDonald and I followed them home. It was a wonderful day spent with their family. My friends have a daughter, Jessica, who is five. So adorable. We played make up and painted our nails…scribbled on the chalk board. Talked for hours with Anto. I left early on Tuesday to give myself enough time to nap before going to practice. The return trip back went a lot smoother with written directions in hand, boy technology.

Then on Thursday, I had the wonderful opportunity to see Giorgia an Italian singer perform. What a voice! She was so petite but a voice so incredibly beautiful. I think I’ll start taking signing lessons.

Anyway, now you’re all caught up…

Take care and blessings,
Danielle

Hello All,

I’m coming to you not with great new but a least some news of progress if you will. We’ve still not put a w in the win column from the last two matches. And in fact one of the two five set losses was another lull in our season. But, always in search of positives and something to move forward with, I found our second five game loss to the leagues currently first place team, was a step in the right direction as the playoff approach. Even after finding ourselves down 0-2 we fought until the end. I know and believe that if we continue to fight the way we did on yesterday, from the beginning of the match, we can do some amazing things still in the season.

By the way, I ended up going to the Egyptian Museum. I was a journey back in time with all the ancient artifacts, and tombs… Took some pics but the lighting wasn’t so great. But I will get around to posting those.

Well, that’s it for this update.

GO CHIERI,
blessings to ya,

Danielle

Update time….

Well, I was hoping to write with great news about our come back and having won the Cup CEV championship. Instead the road continues to be a bit bumpy. Overall I think my team has moments of great play, but we are just unable to sustain it. Now if we were in the sideout system maybe we would be more competitive. Even still we would have to minimize our errors. My focus which usually comes easily for the next few matches and through the playoff will be my blocking. It’s something I can control and something I’ve had better results than I am having now, it terms of blocks for points.

Other than that…today, Sunday, we were off so I drove over to Torino to the English Speaking Church. Haven’t decided yet but maybe I’ll take a drive to Canes if I can get someone to go with me. Or check out the Egyptian Museum. Or maybe I’ll just stay home, tidy up the house. Bo, Non lo so…

That’s it for now,

Blessings,

Danielle
